Trend Watch: Skinny Denim
November 12th, 2009

Look: everyone’s wearing skinny jeans nowadays… Even Lil Weezy and Pharrell. If you’re not wearing them yet, what’s your problem? We can understand if you’ve got a third leg growing that you need to cover up, but c’mon, that’s like .0001% of the population. If it’s something else… fine, be an “individual”. More skinnies for the rest of us.
Trend Watch: P(arty) Coats
November 10th, 2009
It seems we’re always one step behind those darned Europeans… We invent mullets, and they go ahead and step up the game with fashion mullets. Well, same goes for coats; they took the ordinary coat and made popular the pea coat–a steezy coat that you can wear with the homies or even at your momma’s dinner party.
Buzzelli Buzz: Artist Extraordinaire
November 9th, 2009
Kime (pronounced kim-ee) Buzzelli owns a clothing store, updates a blog constantly, has art shows in Japan, styles Beverly Hills 90210, and has done collaborations so sweet (like Vans, and most recently, Urban Decay) that Napoleon is probably rising from the dead right now just so he can conquer the world and cop them. Avoid zombie Napoleon by reading her interview here.
Beach+House+Party
November 6th, 2009
Beach houses don’t just scream party: they shout it into giant megaphones broadcasted into humongous speakers which are then projected into even louder speakers. In case you didn’t know, that’s a heck of a lot louder than a scream. (precisely 5 million decibels louder, but hey, who’s counting?) Take a gander at these marvelous photos for proof.
Like sand through an hour glass these are the grains that made it happen
REJOICE! aStory Issue 03!
November 4th, 2009
Congratulations! You’ve stumbled upon something amazingly valuable – aStory Issue 03, the Holiday Issue. The new mag is finally here, so keep your eyeballs glued to this site for the coming weeks as we bring you all the awesome things inside. This guy told us that if you don’t come back daily, your computer will self destruct (and he knows computers).
We’ve interviewed Chromeo and the Horrors, and have pointed out all the sweet holiday trends like skinny denim, peacoats, cardigans, and denim on denim. We’ve shot epic fashion shoots inside beach houses and on top of rocky mountains. We’ve also highlighted PacSun’s insanely rad Collaboration Series which features t-shirts designed by musicians like the Plastiscines.
Read on and check back, or get ready to buy a new computer. Your choice.
Datarock: The Musical
October 19th, 2009
Know the cool commercials and video games where the music is great but you’ve never heard it before? That’s because people are paid to go out and find good music you’ve never heard to impress your ears. (They usually do that at SXSW in Austin and Winter Music Conference in Miami.) Well we’ll just go ahead and give the farm away: the good music they’re all onto is Datarock. This electro-duo makes some of the finest sounds in Norway (maybe all Scandinavia!), and they met while avoiding compulsory military duty. Norway doesn’t need a military, anyway, they need more Datarock, herring and snowplows.
Read their hilarious interview after the jump, then go listen hard to their “Fa Fa Fa” video here.
Amanda Blank, as jocked by Nic Stecher
October 9th, 2009
Amanda Blank is kinda cute. The girl has an original style, copious sense of humor and she habitually refers to herself as the posterchild of teenage female looseness, Married With Children’s Kelly Bundy. Oh yeah, and she’s just dropped the hipster rap LP of the summer, I Love You, on Downtown Records. If you want to know what happened to Peggy Bundy, or if you don’t please read on.

The Most Gourmet “Cheese!” with Nolan Hall
October 8th, 2009
The title means that Nolan Hall is a great photographer, not that he’s cheesy. Don’t get it twisted. Nolan is rad, and we bow to his trigger finger and right eye skills. We wonder if he gets nose-grease on the back of his camera from having it pressed to his face or he’s better than that.
Mock Orange
October 6th, 2009
aStory wanted to know more about Joe Asher, the guitarist from Mock Orange. So we told him we’d print lies about him unless he played nice. And what a nice guy he turned out to be when threatened!
