Every year, the most shredworthy amateur skateboarders pack their burlap sacks and make way to Volcom’s parking lot in Costa Mesa, CA. Volcom’s Damn Am hosts nonstop shred sledding for four straight days, as well as over all carnage around the OC. Check out the skate wizardry that went down this year.
Meet up spots include pizza parlors and bars on chill time. The top twelve qualify for a spot in Tampa Am, the World Series of amateur skate contests. The top two skaters at Damn Am move straight to Tampa Am semi-finals. The winner of Tampa Am usually goes pro soon after, picking up a nice monthly paycheck and pro board – so obviously, Damn Am is a big deal for skaters looking to avoid the 9-to-5 life.
