06 – ArmyNavy
When they’re not busy scoring spots on Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist, headlining shows, or making sun drenched twee pop masterpieces, Army Navy’s been designing a shirt so rad it’ll make you spontaneous combust. Slow down, throw your anchor into the tides of your life and read all the answers to the questions you wish you’d asked.
Have you guys ever operated a sail boat?
I’ve tried and failed.
What would you do if pirates spotted you on the ocean, saw how awesome your shirt is, and pillaged your ship for the shirt off your back?
I would give them the shirt and go to Pac Sun and buy a new one. It’s good Army Navy PR to have a pirate running around wearing our shirt. It makes us seem tougher.
Does the North West rain have an effect on your music?
Yeah. I haven’t lived there in a few years but the Northwest is definitely part of who I am.
Your MySpace page says you guys are Chinese Pop — what’s the deal??
Oh yeah. We totally are. Except for the Chinese part.
What was it like to be featured on the soundtrack of Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist?
It was a great amazing thing for the band. We had two songs in the film and 1 on the soundtrack. It really helped us get our music out to a whole new audience. So many people hit us up and told us that they found us through the film.
What’s your favorite band on that soundtrack?
I really love the Chris Bell track. We are all Big Star fans. Also, Band of Horses are great. It’s tough to pick a favorite. It’s a really solid soundtrack!
What was your inspiration for this shirt design?
Having the name Army Navy, we are drawn to nautical inspired clothes. We really like French military shirts.
What can we expect to see from you in the future?
We are hard at work writing and working on the next album. Look for the next album on shelves in 2010!
