The title means that Nolan Hall is a great photographer, not that he’s cheesy. Don’t get it twisted. Nolan is rad, and we bow to his trigger finger and right eye skills. We wonder if he gets nose-grease on the back of his camera from having it pressed to his face or he’s better than that.
Why did you pick up the camera?
I love taking photos and documenting everything around me. All my friends are extremely creative people, I think what we are doing now is meaningful in some way, and in a couple years I would like to be able to look back at it all.
Not all artists are photographers, and not all photographers are artists.
There are people that take pictures, and there are people that take photos.
What subjects interest you?
I like portraits, bands also. I think just interesting people in general, and documentary style photography also.
If you could shoot anyone, who would it be and why?
No one in particular, I just like taking photos.
Are you an environment of your product?
I don’t think so. Look at my environment, it’s all expensive cars, Botox, rich people. I learned growing up that you should be thankful for what you have and to do the best with what you have. I’ve never been able to buy a big expensive digital rig, so I do the best with what I have.
Is shooting film like playing vinyl?
I guess. Digital has come a long way, but you still can’t get the gold that film produces.
What’s your preferred method of transportation?
Bicycle, or my van.
Is there anywhere you’d like to be beamed to right now?
Maybe to a Spacemen 3 show in London.
Finally and most importantly: do you have a preferred cake frosting?
I hate frosting, too much sugar.
