Bobby Tang of RVCA
What’s your title at work? I work in the design department.
When you reach the top of your career arc, what will your title be? I don’t believe in titles.
What’s the best thing about where you work? I get to work for my friend’s company and I get to work with super good people that have become my family.
What did you think you wanted to be when you grew up? I have no idea. I never thought about the future, only the present.
Where do you plan to retire? Like I said, I don’t really plan. I just let things come.

Shayla Arden of PacSun
What’s your title? Assistant manager.
Describe what you do in one sentence. I basically OTDB and sling as much denim as possible since were currently in our Back to School Season!
What’s the best thing about where you work? My favorite thing about the location where I work is that theres a Hot Dog on a Stick in the food court.
What did you always want to be when you grew up? Ever since I was little I’ve always had a strong interest in the fashion industry. I guess I’m slowly easing my way into it and doing my own thing, in my freetime I love to blog under a name called fendpourlamode, so I’ll see where that ends up taking me!
Where do you plan to retire? I feel like with our day and age I won’t be able to retire, but if I do, I would love to move to San Francisco!

Kirk Dianda of Element
What’s your title at work? Director, Editor, Filmmaker, and Visionary.
Explain exactly what you do in seven words, or more. Conceptualize, shoot, and edit with our team. “Team” is of course is defined by each project and who’s working together; skate team, design team, film team…
When you reach the top of your career arc, what will your title be? The same as my title now. The only difference will be the amount of work and diversity under my belt.
What did you think you wanted to be when you grew up? I grew up in love with early surf films, skate videos, and visual-heavy documentaries like Warren Miller and the classic NFL Films. So in high school, I (obviously) struggled with reality, as film, photography, and fine art were not options.
Where do you plan to retire? New York and Australia.

Sean Ciminesi of PacSun
What’s your title at work? Store manager.
Describe what you do in one sentence. What don’t I do? Everything and anything necessary to run an effective business.
What’s the best thing about where you work? The opportunity to work with district 107 and the high level of talent it produces, as well as the location.
What did you always want to be when you grew up? Architect.
Where do you plan to retire? Never thought about it.

Abbe Allen of Roxy
What’s your title at work? Senior denim designer for Roxy and QuikWomens .
Describe what you do in one sentence. Use inspiration from travel and music to create newness & innovation in denim.
What’s the best thing about where you work? Working with all the great people at Quiksilver who are my colleagues but also my friends. Our policy is to work hard and play hard.
What did you always want to be when you grew up? I’ve always wanted to be in the fashion industry. As a kid I always loved all of the fashion magazines and I would tear out pictures that I loved and would make collages on the walls of my bed room. I’ve always viewed fashion and photography as a true art form.
Where do you plan to retire? I want to retire in Hawaii where you can live in flip flops and a bikini and be in the ocean every day.

Mike Aho of Volcom
Explain exactly what you do in seven words. Film projects, graphics, commercials, viral marketing.
When you reach the top of your career arc, what will your title be? God. I mean dog. I mean top dog.
What’s the best thing about where you work? The watercooler.
What did you think you wanted to be when you grew up? I spent most of my younger years playing music, so that was my goal then.
Where do you plan to retire? On a cloud made of bunny rabbits floating through the Mediterranean sky.
