If rumors are sometimes true, then Apple will soon be coming out with a netbook or tablet, according to the anonymous guy disguised in a beard.
The latest mill rumor via Barron’s:
A “veteran analyst,” albeit a very anonymous one, has allegedly seen and touched Apple’s rumored “slate-style” PC, which we like to call the jumbo iPod Touch. According to Barron’s source, the new product will be announced in September, released in November, and carry a price tag of between $699 and $799. As previously reported, the tablet (or whatever Apple plans on calling) is ready to go but has been awaiting final approval from Apple CEO Steve Jobs.
The veteran analyst let one thing slip through his or her anonymous hands: “The machine impresses with its display of hi-def video content. It’s better than the average movie experience, when you hold this thing in your hands.”
Barron’s also quotes Jon Peddie, head of Jon Peddie Research in Tiburon, Ca., who says it will be a gaming machine as well.
After making the quotations sign in the air with his hands, Peddie said, “Gaming will be a big part of what this is about.”
All this being said, the real questions are:
- Will it look cool on the side of your head and/or paired with white earbuds?
- Can you type on it? Or is it really like an oversized iPhone?
- Can’t you just write anything you want and “quote” an anonymous source?
